Position Description
Electrification of transport is a key pillar of ESB’s Brighter Future Strategy – reducing the carbon impact from transport and improving air-quality while growing our business. ESB owns and operates an extensive public EV Charging Network in Great Britain and Ireland consisting of over 2,000 fast, rapid and high power EV charging points.
At ESB ecars, we are at the forefront of the electric vehicle (EV) revolution, committed to providing innovative and sustainable charging solutions. We are looking for a talented Commercial Analyst to join our dynamic team and contribute to our vision of a cleaner, greener future.
The primary function of this Commercial Analyst role is to support the commercial team in driving our business forward by analyzing data, deriving insights, and informing decision-making processes. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving the commercial performance of our electric vehicle charging network across the Republic of Ireland, Great Britain, and Northern Ireland. This role involves close collaboration with the commercial modelling team to develop pricing strategies that maximize revenue and margins, while also ensuring the sustainability and growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities

Work in tandem with the commercial modelling team to establish competitive pricing propositions that enhance the revenue and profitability of the business.

Work with the pricing manager to review and implement dynamic pricing strategies across the ecars charging network to optimize portfolio benefits.

Develop and monitor demand forecasting models that support trading and pricing decisions.

Analyze utilization data for all chargers to inform demand forecasting, site selection, business case reviews, and pricing strategies.

Provide comprehensive site assessments to the Business Development team to aid in strategic site selection.

Analyze consumer behavior, energy pricing, and incentives to derive actionable insights for the EV charging business.

Work alongside multi-disciplinary team to improve EV charging station performance.

Build simulations to forecast trends and understand operational dynamics at EV charging stations, to optimize charging station operations and revenue.

Develop data pipelines for model development and performance monitoring.

Craft analyses and visualizations to communicate complex data interactions in simple terms.

Make autonomous decisions and lead initiatives to support business growth.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
-
Proven experience in commercial analysis, pricing strategies, and financial modelling.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Proficiency in data analysis, machine learning, predictive modeling, and simulations.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Proficient numeracy, data analysis and data visualisation skills

Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills

Ability to take initiative and be a “self starter”

Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver overall objectives

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Business , Economics or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in commercial analysis, pricing strategies and financial modelling
Desirable

Experience in the EV charging industry or a related field is preferred.

Broad working knowledge and understanding of science and engineering

Understanding of business administration, finance or business operations
Location
This role will be based at ES Customer Solutions, Swift Square, Northwood, Santry in line with ESB's Smart Working arrangements.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.
