ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Software Engineer will work with cross-functional teams to design, build, and deliver new software & firmware test fixtures. This position will apply experience in writing product specifications while participating in the development of new products from idea to market launch. The ideal candidate will be a highly creative and motivated jack of all trades that has a background as Software / Firmware engineering with experience creating test scripts, designing application GUI, and supporting testing automation for manufacturing of our new cannabis breathalyzer. Conduct these activities according to ISO & compliant standards and to FDA medical device product development processes. The successful candidate understands the responsibilities as required when working at a dynamic start-up company on the cusp of launching its first product.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Maintain software development processes in accordance with company procedures and medical device regulations. Investigate opportunities to improve software development methodologies and level of rigor to be applied across multiple projects.
  • Experience bringing up new boards and functional testing systems.
  • Strong embedded firmware development with C/C++, Linux, QT, Python, or similar languages.
  • Create firmware verification and test plans for document compliance.
  • Building and packaging software; utilizing GitHub / Bitbucket for source control.
  • Participate in prototype testing, creating test benches, GUI development, and software debugging.
  • Conduct failure mode investigations (FMEA), and risk analysis of medical devices according to FDA QSR.
  • Responsible for documentation to support design history files (DHF’s), product design verification and validation software (firmware), verification and validation, production assembly instructions, and production testing.
  • Design and develop test equipment supporting research, lab assay development and Manufacturing.
  • Work closely with quality and regulatory to ensure the company is in compliance with all applicable global quality system regulatory requirements.
  • Enforce design controls, including generating requirement specifications, holding, and documenting design reviews, maintenance of design history, design documents and test documents.
