Make your impact within a rapidly growing Fintech Company

We’re the Design System team. We sit in the Product & Design org, on the Platform Team. Our direct users are the internal designers and engineers building BILL’s digital experiences.

The Design System team is being heavily invested in to make the jobs of our product teams more efficient and create much higher quality products for our customers. We’re well staffed with designers, engineers, and product & project managers.

As a Sr Designer on the Design System’s team, you’ll be creating pixel perfect components for our Design System, Trinity. You’ll work closely with product designers from across the company to guide them on how to make the best experiences with the available components. When the design system needs updated components or tokens, you’re the expert who will work directly with the product teams to gather what their needs are and co-create the updates with them.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing stellar components that meet the needs of multiple teams.
  • Running or participating in our design system team’s rituals (like office hours) that support BILL’s design and development teams when using parts of the design system.
  • Be the go-to expert for how specific components should/could be used in different situations, including offering alternatives for how they might think it should be used.
  • Participate and/or lead co-creation design jams with designers from across BILL to create the next generation of components/guidelines.
  • Join strategy sessions with our direct design system team and other leaders.
  • Offer insights and co-create our future-state design system team processes.
  • Participate in our bi-weekly SCRUM process, provide updates, and pull in other members of the design system team to scale our practices.
  • Join (or even facilitate) design system workshops.

We’d love to chat if you have:

  • Sweat the details when setting up design files and writing documentation. It matters to you that others can read and easily understand these so they aren’t blocked from getting their jobs done.
  • Have designed software in larger scale organizations with multiple products and/or business units and understand the complexities of co-creating cohesive experiences.
  • Love keeping up with the landscape of design system tools, including the newest Figma features and modern tools like Supernova and Knapsack. You know why each of these are great or could be better depending on the use case.
  • Care about design tokens, have managed and updated them, and know their downstream effects into the software development process.
  • Use your high EQ to understand the needs of other designers and help create/update components with them, instead of imposing change on them.
  • Bonus: You’ve facilitated workshops and/or design/hack-a-thons.

Nice–to-have:

  • Have a visual design background and can partner with our brand team to imbue all of our digital products with a great Bill brand experience (via the design system).
  • Has experience and comfort with presenting to leadership.
