What You Will Do:
Pratt & Whitney is seeking an Associate Director, WPB PDC Engineering Manager. This role is responsible for Assembly & Test Engineering at the West Palm Beach PDC. The WPB PDC currently delivers the F135 and various APU models and is actively bringing new programs into production. In addition to building engines, we build teams, with focus on proficiency growth, building strong cross functional relationships, and utilizing the CORE methodology to drive continuous improvement.
This role is a key member of the PDC leadership team, daily at the WPB site, but will also interface regularly with the overall PDC leadership team, program IPMT / SIPT leadership, customer, and regulatory representatives. Extensive engine assembly & test experience, demonstrated leadership ability, and strong interpersonal skills are key to success in this role. Occasional weekend calls/support may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Engineering Leadership to the WPB PDC for Assembly & Test Disciplines supporting the multiple shifts the WPB PDC operates (1st, 2nd, 3rd, & AWW)
- Serve as a key member of the PDC Leadership team in achieving both engine deliveries, PDC Goals, & Control Tower Metrics
- Identify and execute proficiency development plans for the organization to rapidly train new employees and continue to grow existing teams.
- Lead site CORE initiatives to identify & implement process improvements that reduce green build hours, rework, & scrap. Drive targeted process optimization activities through CORE tools
- Lead the creation or modification of process procedures with the goal to optimize them to meet the latest business needs.
- Manage the WPB engineering budget in order to meet the annual financial goals and staff projects to meet business needs.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 12 or more years' experience in engineering, manufacturing, operations management, project management, quality or related industrial environment or a Master’s degree and 10 or more years' experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations management, project management, quality or related industrial environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Experience in Engine Assembly & Test environments/shops
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under programs/contracts supported in this role
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Engineering degree (manufacturing/mechanical/aerospace)
- Experience leading a team that supports Engine Assembly & Test
- Process Engineering Experience / EQE Qualification
- Engine Test Experience / Run Qualification
- Six Sigma Black or Green Belt / PMP Certifications / Agile Methodology
- Understanding of continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma and LEAN
- Familiarity with instrumentation for vibration, temperature, force, pressure, and flow measurements
- Familiarity with statistical process control
