Job Description
The RN Surgical First Assist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Peri-operative Registered Nurse/First Assist is a clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to the surgical patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively interacts with the patient, significant others and health care team members, while maintaining ANA and AORN standards of professional nursing practice.
- Provides the professional nursing services of a Surgery staff nurse in support of medical care, with expanded intra-operative behaviors unique to first assisting.
Qualifications
Required:
- One year of experience in perioperative nursing within past 3-5 years
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Basic computer knowledge
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must be enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year of hire
- State of Illinois RN License
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire
Preferred:
- BSN strongly preferred upon hire
- ACLS within 90 days of hire
- PALS within 90 days of hire
- CNOR
