Job Summary/Purpose

The District Manager is responsible for directly overseeing 5-10 high-volume convenience stores to include a heightened focus on Foodservice 

  •  Provides leadership/direction for assigned district and is ultimately responsible for District financial performance and execution of company goals and objectives
  •  Identifies qualified candidates, conducts interviews, makes employment decisions, including but not limited to, hiring, coaching, evaluating, scheduling, training, and disciplining as needed
  •  Takes initiative to meet and be familiar with all personnel in assigned district, ensuring that all store positions are staffed with the highest quality individuals
  • Attends all training activities and ensures that all District associates attend, actively participate in, and complete required training
  • Promotes staff retention by working to develop leaders, empower employees and encourage increased employee productivity
  •  Ensures that all necessary district paperwork and administrative tasks, including performance appraisals, are completed in a timely fashion
  • Acts as support to store management 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If not available, ensures that a reliable back-up has been provided
  • Promotes the importance of maintaining compliance with responsible retailer guidelines, alcohol and tobacco sales and food safety
  •  Collaborates with internal partners to ensure sales and marketing programs are implemented properly, executed to desired standards, and aligned with current strategies; Provides input accordingly
  •  Supports and ensures the highest levels of customer service practices and attentiveness to customers by setting the example for customer urgency in all store visits and when dealing with store personnel
  •  Embraces the concept of relentless execution; Supports, educates and communicates various customer service initiatives. 
  • Coordinates follow-up training activities as needed
  •  Reviews performance results, trends and projections with Store Managers to educate on business principles and expectations
  •  Works in conjunction with other departments and utilizes the resources available to assist in making appropriate business decisions
  •  Performs and ensures asset control activities within district including, but not limited to, various audits, item level compliance, inventory management practices and write off controls
  •  Ensures all stores are performing and supervising all minor maintenance tasks in order to eliminate inconvenience to the customer
  •  Responds quickly to all emergencies for the safety and security of customers and employees and notifies the appropriate individuals
  •  Demonstrates a high value for Health, Environment, Safety & Security issues, initiatives and programs in both personal and organizational responsibilities
  •  Completes other duties, including special projects, as assigned by Region or Division Management
  •  Work with the VP of Retail to ensure proper food handling, food promotions, portion control are being accomplished.
  •  Ensure stores remain competitive within their respective markets. Maintain awareness of each local market gas pricing and coordinate gas price changes with the General Managers and the VP of Retail Operations. Competitive shop other locations and evaluate the pricing and promotion of key in-store merchandise items. Work with the VP of Retail Operations on product pricing changes where appropriate.
  •  Oversee preparation of merchandise placement and displays with proper POS. 
  •  Coordinate new store openings and/or closing of existing locations. 
  •  Communicates with upper management to ensure that the correct company standards and operating procedures are being followed in the stores. Identify procedures change requirements and work to develop updated procedures in coordination with the VP of Retail Operations.
  • Conduct area meetings – minimum of at least 1 per quarter.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  •  3-5 years of convenience store/retail management experience. 
  •  Possess substantial knowledge of C-Store retail operations, and have a thorough knowledge of current retail practices and procedures, including personnel policies.
  •  Leadership/Coaching ability, good communication skills, self-motivated, and customer service oriented. 
  •  Knowledge of Financial Statements a must.
  •  Ability to effectively communicate (orally and in writing) in English.
  • Must possess a valid Ohio Drivers License with an acceptable driving record per our insurance company requirements
