BWXT is currently seeking a Quality Control Manager for its Enrichment Operations location in Oak Ridge, TN!

 

BWXT is People Strong, Innovation Driven - be part of BWXT’s innovation hub. BWXT’s Enrichment Operations (EO) in Oak Ridge focus on the engineering, fabrication, and testing of advanced gas centrifuge machines. This site accelerates next-generation technology from development to production readiness, supporting the national mission to restore a domestic uranium enrichment supply chain for US defense and naval nuclear propulsion.

 

The Manager, Quality Control, oversees the execution and continuous improvement of quality control processes within Enrichment Operations. This role ensures compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements through the management of inspection programs, testing protocols, nonconformance resolution, and corrective action implementation. The Manager works cross-functionally with operations, engineering, maintenance, and regulatory teams to uphold high standards of product and process quality. This position provides technical leadership, coaching, and oversight to QC personnel ensuring alignment with organizational quality objectives.

Job Description / Duties:

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead and manage daily quality control operations across assigned production and inspection areas.

· Ensure compliance with internal procedures, DOE requirements, regulatory standards, and customer specifications.

· Develop and maintain quality control plans, inspection criteria, and acceptance standards.

· Oversee nonconformance documentation, root-cause evaluations, and corrective/preventive action implementation.

· Coordinate calibration, testing, and measurement activities to ensure equipment accuracy and readiness.

· Analyze quality performance data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.

· Collaborate with engineering and operations to resolve quality issues and support process improvements.

· Support audits, assessments, and readiness reviews conducted by DOE, customers, or regulatory agencies.

· Provide quality-related input for project designs, modifications, and process changes.

· Train and mentor quality control inspectors and technicians.

· Prepare reports, metrics, and presentations to leadership on quality performance and improvement actions.

 

Job Qualifications / Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, industrial technology, or related field.

· 10+ years of experience in quality control, inspection, or quality engineering in a regulated environment.

· Calypso CMM programming and routine maintenance

· Experience leading technical teams or inspection groups.

· Strong knowledge of QC tools, methods, and measurement systems.

· Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience in nuclear, DOE, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.

· Certifications such as ASQ CQE, CQT, or CQA.
