The Global Research & Development’s Wipes Dream Team (part of the Product Steward Team) is seeking an experienced scientist/engineer for material and process development in Roswell, Georgia. The scientist for this role will provide technical leadership to develop materials and processes in support of our Global Wipes business. Candidates should have experience across developing coform and, ideally, other wipes basesheet technologies (such as, spunlace, wetlaid, airlaid, or other similar technologies) and will have a demonstrated ability to effectively interface with a broad range of global team members, customers, and manufacturing. The selected candidate will need to have strong leadership and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively interface with a broad range of team members, global customers, and manufacturing partners.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead material and process development projects / programs for wipes basesheet materials, specifically coform and plastic-free/sustainable basesheet processes, in support of K-C’s Global Wipes Business. Scope ranges from early front-end innovation through development and commercialization.
  • Plan and carry out project responsibilities with limited assistance and direction.
  • Seek, recognize, define, and solve problems to achieve unit objectives.  Identify complex technical issues to determine root cause, develop and recommend solutions.
  • Deliver on key material and process innovation, development, commercialization, and customer programs, globally.
  • Communicate and document project plans and results to key customers.
  • Provide functional guidance and leadership in the development, and ongoing optimization of nonwoven materials and processes.
  • Provide protection to technologies, processes, materials, and products through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.
  • Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized as an effective implementer of research principles, scientific analysis, and project management.
  • Be flexible on work hours to support global customers.

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (preferably a Masters or advanced degree) in a related major scientific or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university; and 5+ years of experience in a variety of technical assignments in a professional R&D.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team to successfully lead and complete commercialization projects within required timeframes.
  • Adept knowledge and background in coform materials and technology and a demonstrated ability to translate that knowledge into execution of
