Engineering Manager

As a highly-skilled Engineering Manager on our partnerships development team, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a group of full stack developers and team leaders ensuring the teams deliver high-quality software products on time and within budget for Melio’s partnership clients.
This position is 50% people management and 50% hands-on software development.
How You’ll Make An Impact:
1) Manage a group of software developers divided into several squads responsible for implementing the product roadmap (40%):
- Oversee the activities of the development group, including assigning tasks and monitoring progress to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Set objectives and goals for the group that are aligned with the company's product roadmap.
- Lead and motivate the group to ensure that they are working collaboratively, supporting each other, and resolving conflicts.
- Provide direction and guidance to the group on coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance procedures.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with other managers and stakeholders to identify and resolve issues that may impact the team's performance and the overall success of the projects.
2) Develop Melio products in strategic partnerships by collaborating with partners (30%)
- Meet partners in-person and establish professional working relationships with their engineering teams - CTO, platform developers, data security, data engineers.
- Collect requirements, learn API documentation, and build an integration plan for potential partners.
- Write Technical Requirements Documents in collaboration with internal and external teams.
- Implement custom code solutions for partners to enable secure two-way data sync.
- Create reusable code infrastructure and tooling to accelerate partner onboarding
3) Supervise the group’s deliverables and ensure that deadlines are matched with both time and code quality constraints (10%):
- Establish and implement processes, procedures, and tools to monitor code quality, testing, and deployment.
- Ensure that the team's output meets the organization's quality standards and delivers quality products on time.
- Track progress, identify bottlenecks, and adjust timelines accordingly to achieve project objectives.
- Provide guidance and support to the team to improve the quality of their work and ensure that they meet deadlines.
- Collaborate with other managers and stakeholders to identify and resolve issues that may impact the team's performance and the overall success of the projects.
- Communicate project status, progress, and issues to management and stakeholders.
4) Improve the efficiency of the company's operational units by automating and streamlining workflows through research and development (10%):
- Research and develop new workflows or systems to streamline processes, reduce manual work, and eliminate redundancies.
- Identify and automate repetitive tasks, reduce errors, and improve data accuracy.
- Implement software solutions that enhance communication, collaboration, and information-sharing between teams.
- Monitor the performance of workflows and systems and make adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal efficiency.
- Collaborate with other managers and stakeholders to identify. opportunities for process improvement and drive change across the organization.
- Communicate project status, progress, and issues to management and stakeholders.
5) Mentoring and developing team members through performance evaluations and career development planning (5%):
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
- Identify areas for improvement and create individualized development plans to enhance their skills and capabilities.
- Provide guidance and support to help team members overcome obstacles and develop their careers.
- Identify potential leaders within the team and offer mentorship and development opportunities to prepare them for future leadership roles.
- Collaborate with other managers and stakeholders to identify opportunities for team members to contribute to the organization's strategic goals.
- Communicate with team members about their progress, goals, and development opportunities.
6) Employ new members of the team and developers, interview them, and facilitate the talent acquisition process by creating a workflow for professional interviews (5%):
- Define job requirements and create job descriptions that attract suitable candidates.
- Identify potential candidates through various sources, including job boards, social media, and employee referrals
