About the role

Salary Pay Range:$27.05-$34.95

Essential Functions:

  • Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.
  • Supportive of a Trauma Informed Care perspective. Understand the effects of trauma, coping, and other aspects of the lives of those serviced.
  • Provides and promotes a strengths-based, wellness-informed, client centered approach to assisting individuals being served in achieving person-driven goals.
  • Provides education and awareness information regarding meth, opioids and other drugs and alcohol to WTLC residents
  • Provides sobriety group/meetings for Women’s Transitional Living Center residence.
  • Provides appropriate documentation of services as indicated in regulation and policy.
  • Reads staff communication records and maintains familiarity with resident records as required.
  • Provides services as indicated on resident treatment and service plans, observes and collects in house urinalysis and refers resident to further testing as needed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures.
  • Observes changes in resident status, needs, or preferences, and communicates them appropriately.
  • Records resident information as required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, work, safety, and other emergency procedures.
  • Assists with individual resident and group social recreational activities. This may include supportive listening and skill development.
  • Provides back-up to the other Behavioral Health Staff.
  • Transports individuals in a company vehicle for the purpose of accessing resources in support of transition back into the community, i.e. resources to assist with housing, employment, education, medical/dental care, recovery, and cultural activities.
  • Performs a variety of other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Licenses:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certified Recovery Mentor or Peer Support Specialist by the State of Oregon or ability to obtain certification within six(6) months of hire
  • One of the following required in order to meet the definition of Peer as defined by the State Of Oregon Administrative Rule:
    • Self-identified person currently or formerly receiving mental health services
    • Self-identified person in recovery from a substance abuse disorder, who meet the abstinence requirements for recovering staff in alcohol and other drug treatment programs
    • Family member of an individual who is a current or former recipient of addiction or mental health services.
  • Experience with issues involving addiction required.
  • If a recovering chemically dependent person must be in a program of recovery and able to provide documentation of sobriety for a minimum of two (2) years
  • OR equivalent combination of training and experience.

Driving Requirements:

  • Must maintain a valid Oregon driver’s license or obtain one upon hire, qualify for the Tribe’s vehicle insurance, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance.

Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:

  • Certified Peer Recovery Mentor.
  • Must have knowledge of the effects of trauma, coping and other aspects of the lives of those served.
  • Adheres to the organization’s policies and procedures covering the privacy, access and client health information in compliance with Federal and State laws and the healthcare organizations information privacy practices. Must have a working knowledge of the Privacy Act/HIPPA and its applications.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must respect all other regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or income level.
  • Proven ability to work independently and interpret policies and procedures, under pressure with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to work with all levels of individuals, including disgruntled people in an effective manner.
  • Must provide medical history of vaccinations.
  • Must meet in-service training hours required for job classification and position.
  • Requires attendance at mandatory in-service training. 
  • Must have and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification or obtain within sixty-(60) days of hire.
  • Must be free of non-treated communicable disease.
  • Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations. Ability/willingness to perform shift work which may include residing and sleeping the night at the facility, and to work holidays or overtime. Abi
