Student Program Assistant, DPT

POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for supporting the DPT Department by assisting in maintaining classrooms, labs, student and faculty areas, linen, and department supplies and storage 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Classrooms 
   1. Straighten chairs, tables, extension cords, and counters daily.
   2. Clean dry-erase boards and tables/desks bi-monthly or as needed.
   3. Keep classrooms stocked with tissues, hand sanitizer, dry-erase markers, and Clorox wipes, including putting away supplies that have been brought in for special classes.
2. Labs
   1. Straighten stools, treatment tables/mats, and counters daily
   2. Clean dry-erase boards and equipment as needed
   3. Keep classrooms and labs stocked, including putting away supplies and linen
   4. Refill water in the Hydrocollator as needed
   5. Put away lab equipment, wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and supplies left out for more than a few days, and at the end of the week
3. Linen 
   1. Gather all dirty linen and place it in laundry bags inside of labs
   2. Straighten linen on carts
   3. Keep track of inventory, and report any needs to the DPT Coordinator
4. DPT Break Room
   1. Clean fridges, microwave, and small appliances bi-weekly
   2. Wipe down counters and straighten supplies as needed
   3. Keep area stocked
5. Storage Rooms
   1. Keep track of glove inventory in all lab rooms – let me know when to order more.
   2. Straighten supplies; assist with deliveries and with faculty lab needs.
   3. Watch for green portable plinths in the university; they should be stored in the DPT Storage Room (148) but can be used elsewhere temporarily. Check with DPT Admins to see if they are authorized to be out.
   4. Organize DPT supplies in the offsite storage unit.
6. General Duties
   1. Coordinate shared duties with the other SPAs.
   2. Water plants in DPT Area weekly in winter and biweekly in summer.
   3. Check student study areas for DPT equipment and supplies. Clean as needed.
   4. Assist with Inventory
   5. Assist with decorating for holidays
   6. Assist with student activities and holiday activities
   7. Assists with preparation for DPT department events
   8. Other duties as assigned 

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

1. The SPA is expected to maintain professional dress and demeanor with students, faculty, and staff.
2. The SPA must be in, and maintain, good academic standing within the DPT Program
3. The SPA is expected to clock in and out using the University's online timekeeping system, explained during orientation. The rate of pay for this position is $12.00/hour. The expected hours per week are approximately ten hours, not to exceed 12 hours. Paydays are biweekly on Fridays.

WORKING REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS

Education/Certification:

No degree is required for the position; however, the student worker must be currently enrolled in the DPT Program and be in good academic standing

Required Knowledge:

Understanding of and adherence to FERPA regulations

Basic knowledge of lab equipment and tools to assist with cleaning and maintenance

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Pleasant demeanor and personality
