Duties & Responsibilities:
Student Employee:
- Respond to and incorporate feedback from supervisor/advisor and peers
- Collaborate and coordinate with other SEA orgs and campus partners
- Participate in budget tracking and co-managing organization’s finances
- Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of your work
- Develop, distribute, and analyze assessments for programs, events, and initiatives
- Assist with writing and presenting Services and Activities Fee (SAF) and Student Technology Fee (STF) budget proposals
- Assist with projects and tasks assigned by supervisor
Student Leader:
- Contribute respectfully to our diverse and inclusive work environment at UWB and the Student Engagement & Activities (SEA) department
- Contribute to the SEA mission
- Perform outreach to students about SEA programs, events, and services to promote student involvement and provide current information about campus resources
- Maintain shared work spaces with other student leaders, incl. supplies management, rotating cleaning and organizational duties, prompt reporting of issues, and more
- Maintain active, timely communication with supervisor and team
- Connect with the UW Bothell student body to find out what different students want and/or need
- Maintain documents and folders in a shared digital filing system, on a student engagement platform, social media, and other technology
- Perform clerical duties including documenting and updating processes, data entry, maintaining work calendars, and scheduling meetings
- Support and staff SEA events and operations as needed. This includes but is not limited to: New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, SEA org support, and large scale campus events
- Represent the SEA department at events and as requested by supervisor
Support the recruitment of future student leaders during the annual hiring cycle (spring quarter)
Position Overview:
The Husky Herald Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of The Husky Herald has leadership and editorial control of UW Bothell’s student newspaper. This position is responsible for overseeing The Husky Herald student newspaper functions and operations; this includes, but not limited to: working with the Managing Editor, Assistant Editor, and Contributors on researching, interviewing, reporting, broadcasting, video, photoshop, Adobe Creative Cloud/InDesign, article writing/editing, and publishing issues for campus, training and supporting contributors, setting the tone and direction of the publication, consistency of editorial content and policies, and the marketing/branding of The Husky Herald. The EIC has the final say on what gets published, including creating the InDesign layout before publication. This position is the primary representative of The Husky Herald in decision-making and key projects related to UWB Student Media.
The Husky Herald EIC gains: practical knowledge of journalism, elements of publishing a student newspaper, and managerial experience in running a publication team.
