Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Sr Director, Assembly Process & Test Technology located in US California Milpitas

Reporting to the VP, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the Sr Director, Assembly Process & Test Technology will be responsible for leading and managing the company's Advanced Assembly, Manufacturing, and Test Process/Product Technology Roadmaps. Responsible for all aspects of company’s Advanced Assembly/Manufacturing & Test Process/Product Technology Roadmaps. Lead and conduct discovery and development efforts with cross functional team made up from business unit engineering, design engineering, corporate strategy and site ops engineering. Day-to-day management of simultaneous projects, delivering solutions to agreed specifications within time and budget constraints. Foster innovative solutions to customer needs. Standardize outcome of new technology development to sustain in mass production environment. Interface with customer during pre-quote/sales support steps to win new business, managing technology introduction through targeted qualification of sites relating to assembly process, test process and general technologies that are either advanced or are new to industry and Flex. Ensure advanced manufacturing technologies also address the business needs to prevent escalation by introducing these manufacturing technologies through training and qualification of the sites connected to business unit specific needs.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Develop and maintain annual and 3-year horizon technology roadmaps based on assessed gaps.

  • Gaps to be based on industry trends and needs, customer ask, and business unit forecast based on sales forecast, sales misses, site readiness and AME’s own projections.

  • Technology discovery and development should be balanced with existing budget and new budgets needed for resources including test vehicle and supplier development cost.

  • Technology process deployment is for all business units and value add services organization.

  • Serve as a key member of the management team that sets the company’s strategic direction.

  • Develop strategic planning for the direction and control of manufacturing process development activities.

  • Formulate long-term objectives and standards of performance for the department.

  • Assure that the department achieves objectives and project completion within budget and time frame.

  • Be a student of current industry trends, ensuring that the company maintains and expands its manufacturing technology leadership position.

  • Motivate staff and provide technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on project management, recognizing the role as that of both manager and support resource/mentor.

  • Assure that the manufacturing process is designed for specific needs, but with wider applications/tolerances in mind.

  • Hire and direct staff of senior group members to acquire necessary resources to meet scheduled commitments.

  • Ensure implementation and refinement as required of formal process to support the product development process.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team,

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Engineering or related discipline. MBA is strongly preferred.

  • 10+ years in manufacturing, including at least 7 years in management roles.

  • Demonstrates mastery of functional knowledge in relation to other functions and a complete understanding of the function and those of related businesses Requires excellent communication (written and verbal) skills and networking abilities.

  • Effective interpersonal skills with ability to negotiate and influence positive outcomes.  Business acumen and proven ability to improve/turnaround key financial results.
