Our mission is to make recycling simple, transparent, and efficient, helping companies and municipalities reduce their environmental footprint.</p><p>Our Data & Insights team plays a central role in making this vision reality: we power insights, analytics, and product features with a robust and scalable data platform. We’re now looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join us and help take our data infrastructure and pipelines to the next level. <br/><br/></p><h3>Your role <br/></h3><p> As a Senior Data Engineer, you will:</p><ul>
<li>Design, build, and maintain scalable ELT pipelines in our modern data stack (Cloud Composer, Airflow, dbt, BigQuery, GitLab). You bring industry experience working with data infrastructure, platform and services - we work with Google Cloud so experience with that is a plus, but modern cloud-based stack experience is valuable too</li>
<li>Develop and maintain robust data models that power analytics, reporting, and product features, ensuring they follow best practices for performance and maintainability.</li>
<li>Manage and optimise data infrastructure, including Cloud Composer environments and related GCP resources, in close collaboration with our infrastructure team.</li>
<li>Implement orchestration, testing, and monitoring to ensure data quality, reliability, and traceability across the data warehouse. </li>
<li>Troubleshoot pipeline or environment errors quickly and effectively.</li>
<li>Collaborate closely with backend and frontend engineers (our backend is mostly in Java) to ensure seamless integration of data models and pipelines into the product.</li>
<li>Contribute to architectural decision-making, e.g. by writing and reviewing RFCs, applying data engineering design patterns, and following architectural best practices.</li>
<li>Promote documentation and knowledge sharing, ensuring our data systems and processes are transparent and accessible across the company.</li>
<li>Mentor and support other engineers, fostering a culture of growth and continuous improvement within the team.</li>

</ul><h3><br/></h3><h3>What we're looking for<br/> </h3><p><strong>Must-have skills & experience</strong></p><ul>
<li>5+ years of experience in data engineering or similar roles.</li>
<li>Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.</li>
<li>Hands-on experience with Airflow/Cloud Composer, dbt, and BigQuery (or similar modern data warehouse solutions and cloud-based infrastructure).</li>
<li>Solid understanding of data modeling, orchestration, testing, and data engineering best practices.</li>
<li>Experience building scalable, reliable data pipelines in production environments.</li>
<li>Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with engineers, analysts/scientists, and product managers.</li>
<li>Experience mentoring, conducting code reviews, and promoting team-wide engineering best practices, preferably in a cross-functional team context.</li>
<li>Experience contributing to architecture and design decisions in data platforms.</li>
</ul><strong>Nice-to-have skills<br/></strong><ul>
<li>Experience with Java or backend development.</li>
<li>Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, etc.) and GCP resource management.</li>
<li>Experience implementing AI/ML pipelines, ideally with exposure to MLOps/LLMOps practices.</li>
<li>Background in integrating external APIs into data pipelines.</li>
