Your future teams are developing Nokia 3GPP mainstream radio technology products and solutions including cross-technology responsibility (Multi Radio Access Technology). Your unit’s main priorities are flawless execution of System programs including Network Management & Optimization and attached services.

 

What you will learn and contribute to 

X-Haul team part of MW&CSN Business Unit is providing Microwave transport solution within Nokia, reference product family is Wavence. Nokia is looking for a young HW development engineer specialized in mechanical domain.

As a HW engineer in X-Haul R&D you will contribute to both feature evolution of product and development of new HW items to renew product HW platform. HW is relevant part of Wavence product and majority of feature differentiator with respect to competition relies on HW specific implementation.

You will develop extensive knowledge of new telecommunications protocols and state of the art standards, microwave specificities, Nokia’s hardware platforms and the way customers are deploying them. You will contribute to developing innovative solutions exploiting advanced technologies to address the Nokia strategy in 5G domain and beyond.

As part of HW team, you will work in the context of a team over different X-Haul R&D locations, highly interacting with other teams inside X-Haul, in a multicultural and worldwide context. You will experience modern development methodologies like agile, scrum and cross functional team working. 

Within HW development you will contribute to create innovative solutions through system and function architecture definition and you will be responsible of specification, simulation, design and qualification, both at unit and system level, following the complete end to end project flow from market needs to the release of new product to market.  

Environment is particularly stimulating since you will have the possibility to work inside team in contact with most advanced internal and external Research Centers (like Bell Labs) and universities.

Main responsibilities and/or activities:

• Requirement analysis and feasibility studies
• HW architecture definition and selection of relevant technologies/components
• HW development and technical detailed design mainly focused on mechanical domain.
• HW unit test/qualification and reporting
• HW project status reporting and tracking
• HW Configuration management
• Contribute to process improvement and innovation. 
  
   

Mandatory:

• Deep theoretical knowledge of techniques/technologies related to electronic/mechanic domains.
• solid background in maths and physics as provided by engineering university courses 
• knowledge of the structure of the metallic and plastic materials and superficial treatments
• knowledge of thermal modelling, simulations, analysis and testing of electronic equipment
• Knowledge of technics and tools of the technical and mechanic sketches.
• knowledge of the use of 3D computerized computer systems
• Basic knowledge of the technology of the production processes.
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Good teamwork skills
• Adaptability and accountability
• Effectively cooperating with people with different technical background and culture, dealing with diverse situations and viewpoints
• Eager to learn and expand own knowledge. 

 

Nice to have:

• Experience on HW design and life cycle
• Knowledge of the Pro-Engineering CAD (CREO2 suite) and PDM Link.
• Competence of thermal management using 3D thermal simulators.
• Basic knowledge of European directive RoHS and WEEE
