You can expect a remote-first working model with periodic in-person gatherings at your closest office for team connection, planning, or other key moments.</p> <h2 id="what-you-will-do">What you will do</h2> <p>Viator's Engineering Platform Team is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong background in both software and systems engineering. As a key member of our core platform team, you will play a crucial role in empowering our developers with the tools and processes they need to achieve maximum productivity and deliver exceptional business value.</p> <p>You will be a champion of DevOps practices, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. By working closely with product teams, you will co-design platform solutions that directly enhance developer productivity and drive business value.</p> <h2 id="what-you-will-need">What you will need</h2> <ul> <li><strong>5+ years of experience</strong> as a systems, infrastructure, platform engineer, or in a similar role</li> <li>Experience leading infrastructure projects end-to-end, mentoring other engineers, or defining standards across teams</li> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills — capable of collaborating across engineering teams and confidently evangelising solutions</li> <li>Hands-on experience with <strong>Kubernetes (K8s)</strong> in a production environment deploying, managing, and troubleshooting workloads</li> <li>Strong Experience with <strong>AWS services</strong> and architecture patterns (e.g. EC2, EKS, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, etc.)</li> <li>Proficiency with <strong>Infrastructure as Code</strong> tools — especially Terraform for provisioning cloud infrastructure</li> <li>Experience with <strong>Helm</strong> for packaging and managing Kubernetes applications</li> <li>Comfortable working with <strong>GitOps workflows</strong>, especially using tools like <strong>Argo CD</strong> for continuous delivery</li> <li>Solid <strong>Linux systems</strong> knowledge — performance tuning, troubleshooting, security best practices</li> <li>Experience working with <strong>CI/CD pipelines</strong> and integration with infrastructure (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar)</li> <li>A mindset for <strong>automating everything</strong> — you’ve seen the benefits of reproducibility, scaling, and drift detection</li> <li>Experience working with__monitoring/logging tools__ (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Datadog) or secrets management (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager)</li> <li>Ability to lead <strong>Root Cause Analysis (RCA)</strong> and <strong>incident review processes</strong> — contributing to blameless postmortems and continuous improvement initiatives</li> </ul> <h2 id="perks-of-working-at-viator">Perks of Working at Viator</h2> <ul> <li><strong>Competitive compensation packages</strong> (routinely benchmarked against the latest industry data), including base salary and annual bonus.</li> <li><strong>“Work your way”</strong> with flexibility to suit your lifestyle.
