Maintenance Mechanic

 

Shift: Rotating 12-hr shift, 7:45pm-7:45am

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

The Mechanical Technician for Maintenance provides day-to-day mechanical support for the Northlake manufacturing facility. The role of this position is to keep the machines up and running, assist in change overs and set up, fixing unexpected downtimes issues, assist in running production, and provide support for and participate in the Preventive Maintenance plans and activities.     

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports shift production teams in problem solving and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Able and will provide support after hour call-ins.
  • Ensures strict conformance to OSHA safety requirements for facility and production equipment.
  • Provide input to the preventive and predictive maintenance efforts to improve overall equipment reliability.
  • Provides strong support of departmental standards for safety, sanitation, and housekeeping.
  • Support the introduction of new technology.
  • Able and willing to assist the plant management in training other employees. 
  • Able and willing to explain the machine operations to the production employees.
  • Work with production to minimize downtime and prevent them in the future. 
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Train other employees and contractors as requested by management.  
  • Provide coverage for other positions as requested by management. 

 

YOU BRING THESE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must possess a technical college certificate or must be pursuing a certification in a maintenance related field of study.
  • Ability to work all shifts and perform overtime.
  • Future training and/or education may be necessary to further job skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and Power Point presentations. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units or measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs.   
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to perform visual inspection process and successfully read and apply technical material including print specifications.

    • Must be able to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
    • Frequently standing, walking and sitting.
    • Frequently required the use of hands to finger, feel, reach or handle machinery.
    • Frequently bend, stoop and reach.
    • Visual Acuity (VA).
