Senior Staff Accountant
The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing invoice and payment processing, credit card reconciliation and preparing financial reports for month end. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable with direct, indirect and unallowable expenses and will demonstrate extensive knowledge in GAAP, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Microsoft Applications, and user experience in NetSuite, Concur, Stampli and Oracle Cloud.
Responsibilities
- Assist with accounts payable tasks including invoice tracking, recording, coding, approval and payment
- Review invoices in Stampli and NetSuite, ensure proper coding of GL/department/project codes
- Work closely with procurement and technical representatives to obtain required approvals
- Able to identify unallowable costs according to government rules and/or contractual terms
- Applies general knowledge of accounting/government policies and procedures when responding to written and verbal inquiries from stakeholders
- Manage disbursements to vendors, subcontractors, subrecipients
- Review and process employee expense reimbursements
- Review company owned credit cards monthly reconciliation
- Assist in the process of issuing manual checks, wire, ACH payments, void checks, positive pay
- Manage vendor relations, research and resolve variances or discrepancies in invoices
- Support general ledger accounting including account reconciliations and journal entry posting
- Track invoices subject to sales or use tax, prepare use tax calculation worksheet, and record use tax accrual on a monthly basis
- Monitors the accounts payable aging
- Prepare financial reports including Accounts Payable Aging, for month end
- Prepare and process 1099 forms and file with the IRS
- Maintain policies and procedure documentation for accounts payable accounting activities
- Work with stakeholders to identify area of improvements in Accounts Payable, and draft improvement proposals for management review
- Ability to perform moderately complex accounting tasks/analysis, categorize data for reporting and audit purpose
- Support Audits for allowable and unallowable costs
- Support new ERP system implementation
Key Qualifications and Skills
- B.S. degree in Accounting or related field or the equivalent business-experience
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in an accounting environment
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required
- Knowledge of NetSuite, Concur and Oracle Cloud is preferred
- Working knowledge of government grant and/or government contracts is preferred
