Job Description:

Iowa State University is currently seeking applicants for multiple part-time teaching positions with the TRIO Upward Bound summer program. Upward Bound is a federally funded grant program for first-generation and/or low-income students in grades 9-12. Upward Bound is designed to prepare high school students for postsecondary education by providing academic, cultural, and social programs that develop the skills, attitudes, and motivation necessary for higher education. We are hiring 1-3 elective subject instructors.

The Upward Bound summer program will be held in-person on the Iowa State campus, June 9-July 3. Teachers are responsible for developing and leading engaging courses in elective option content areas. Courses are non-credit bearing, and they are designed to supplement high school course material and prepare students for their next academic year. Classes are held Monday-Friday throughout the month of June. The time commitment is approximately 12-15 hours of instruction and 5 hours of prep and administrative responsibilities each week.

Successful candidates must have teaching experience and vast knowledge of the content area for which they apply. A teaching license is preferred but not required. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively and provide weekly progress updates to high school students and program staff.

The position will remain open until filled, however to receive full consideration you must apply by 5/30/2025.
