Manager, National Tax Office Tax Accounting Methods

Job Summary:

The BDO National Tax Office (NTO) provides technical leadership and support to the firm client service professionals on matters involving US Federal and State taxation.  The Manager of Tax Accounting Methods, NTO, will provide technical assistance on issues related to accounting methods, such as procedural rules associated with filing accounting method changes, the proper timing of income/expense recognition, and implications of specific tax-reform matters.

Job Duties:

• Serves as a technical resource for BDO and its Alliance Firm members by providing assistance for various accounting method issues, including revenue and expense recognition, capitalization and depreciation
• Works with other NTO personnel to perform required technical review for any BDO-prepared accounting method changes
• Works closely with practice office personnel to develop their technical skills in the area of accounting methods
• Assists with drafting responses to IRS inquiries, IRS ruling requests and writing other technical memoranda related to accounting methods
• Disseminates technical knowledge throughout BDO through presenting at formal and informal teaching sessions and drafting thought leadership
• Maintains high level of technical skills in accounting methods area of the tax law through staying current on recent guidance
• Liaises with NTO leadership and other Tax leadership to provide input for Leadership to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals
• Identifies and develops tools/templates that would be helpful to CTS and STS professionals to implement accounting method projects
• Other duties as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, preferred

Experience:

• Six (6) or more years of prior tax related work experience required
• Prior supervisory experience, required
• Public accounting/consulting experience, preferred

License/Certifications:

• CPA certification, preferred

Software:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, required
• Experience with Tax software, required

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong leadership and management skills
• Superior written and verbal communications skills
• Advanced knowledge of technical aspects of tax

 

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

California Range: $120,000 - $170,000
Colorado Range: $120,000 - $170,000
Illinois Range: $120,000 - $170,000
Maryland Range: $120,000 - $170,000
Massachusetts Range: $120,000 - $170,000
Minnesota Range: $120,000 - $170,000
New Jersey: $120,000 - $170,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $120,000 - $170,000
Vermont Range: $120,000 - $170,000
Washington Range: $120,000 - $170,000
Washington DC Range: $120,000 - $170,000
