Job Summary:
This role leads, develops, and oversees a team of professionals who design and maintain frameworks, policies, standards, and provide oversight, expert policy and regulatory guidance, and advice related to TD’s Sanctions and Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption (ABAC) compliance programs. Delivers specialized project support and services in both domains.
Provides strategic and day-to-day direction on a broad range of complex sanctions and ABAC program activities, including assigning workflow, providing governance and support, and addressing and escalating sanctions and ABAC-related issues.
Oversees the timely execution of periodic and event-driven reviews using a risk-based approach to ensure alignment with sanctions and ABAC policy and regulatory requirements.
Serves as the primary escalation point for significant sanctions and ABAC matters or exceptions. Identifies and implements risk mitigation strategies for findings from risk assessments, audit findings, regulatory exams, and potential violations of law.
Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders (such as auditors and regulators) to provide necessary documentation and support during audits and examinations related to sanctions and ABAC compliance.

- Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
- Oversees and leads a highly complex, and/or diverse function for an area of significant risk, or scope
- Strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external/internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management/enterprise areas
- Facilitates key strategic discussions and provide thought leadership to executive audience (output may include strategic roadmap and/or deliverables/frameworks/short to long term goals etc.)
- Sets operational team direction and collaborate with others to execute on common goals
- Focuses on longer-range planning for functional area
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate Degree
- Advanced degree, professional accreditation, and/or 10+ years relevant industry experience
Customer Accountabilities:
- Oversees a function of professionals within the enterprise Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) Program, providing oversight and control-related advisory services to partners in both sanctions and Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption (ABAC) compliance
- Provides strategic direction on a broad and diverse range of complex global sanctions and ABAC program activities
- Develop enterprise-wide sanctions and ABAC frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures in coordination with management, in line with TD’s FCRM Program
- Works with the executive team and senior business management/partners to develop proactive strategies, tactics, policies, and programs to effectively manage sanctions and ABAC regulatory and compliance issues
- Contributes to the development and implementation of enterprise programs related to all aspects of sanctions and ABAC legislation
- Meets with business partners and leaders to determine sanctions and ABAC strategies and foster a strong compliance culture
- Takes corrective action and recommends or implements changes to procedures for sanctions and ABAC compliance, as required
- Leads in managing and responding to periodic exams, audits, and various regulatory bodies regarding sanctions and ABAC accountabilities
