Senior Director of Development, Tandon School of Engineering

Position Summary

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.

 

The Senior Director of Development, Tandon School of Engineering will develop, plan, and execute successful fundraising strategies for a portfolio of high networth prospects who have the capacity to make $1M - $5M gifts and will be progressively responsible for raising 7-8 figures annually. Maintain a discovery prospect pool with an emphasis on qualification that leads to a portfolio of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Achieve 80-100 meaningful engagements and/or meetings in-person or virtually annually, as appropriate. Travel as required, and as University policy allows, to build and strengthen relationships and develop philanthropy. Advise and mentor the fundraising team to contribute to the overall success of the team.

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education:Master's Degree or completion of a fundraising certificate programRequired Experience:7+ years experience, or equivalent combination of experience and educationPreferred Experience:Managing complex projects 

Knowledge of and familiarity with the NYC-metro area's philanthropic communityRequired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to take initiative and collaborate with others

Working knowledge of various software applications

Strong knowledge of MS Office SuitePreferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Strong verbal and written communications skills, intellectual curiosity and interest about topics related to the University's funding priorities, engaging conversationalist, active listener, ability to demonstrate empathy

Knowledge of Blackbaud/Sunguard database systems preferred, or knowledge of fundraising databases

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $155,000.00 to USD $195,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
