The Manager, Interpreter Services will provide supervision and coordination of the operations and staff of the Interpreter Services Department of Valley Health Partners Community Health Center (VHP), including responding to the daily needs/requests from internal and external customers and staff, providing supervision and coaching of staff and independent contract interpreters to meet the needs of the health center. This role will ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and develop best-practice and service benchmarks in the area of linguistically appropriate services across VHP. In order to ensure appropriate level of services across the health center, they will provide interpretation services for VHP staff and patients.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required. In lieu of degree, 4 years additional relevant experience required.
Experience:
- Required: Three years of experience as an interpreter. In addition, one year healthcare lead/leadership experience required.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish required
- Three years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting, preferred.
Certificate:
- Bridging The Gap (BTG) upon hire.
Skills Needed:
- Ability to adhere to interpreter standards of practice and code of ethics.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to organize and manage multiple competing priorities.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills, with independent resolution of most problems and challenges encountered.
- Skilled at project coordination.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Work, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
Essential Functions:
- Manages and evaluates language interpreters.
- Monitors weekly volume of interpretation within their direct reports and adjusts staffing patterns/schedules as necessary to accommodate both planned and unexpected alterations in workload and/or resource availability.
- Measures productivity performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Responsible for administrative functions including but not limited to creation and delivery of continuing education for language services, productivity reports, timekeeping, back up dispatch and scheduling and other duties as required.
- Supports interpreter services needs based on strategic growth of the organization, working closely with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinates all language services operations including telephonic, in-person, and video interpretation by establishing timely, effective communication with vendors and caregivers.
- Develops spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs.
- Provides accurate interpretation between patients and health center personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
