Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Lead Controls Engineer to join our team at our nickel refinery plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong hands-on background in DeltaV and Allen-Bradley system design and configuration, with extensive experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems for industrial environments. This role requires a deep understanding of control engineering principles, automation technologies, and the unique challenges of a metal refinery [JN1] setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and manage the design and development of control systems tailored to the specific needs of our nickel refinery plant.
- Implement and maintain PLC, DCS, and Process Historian systems for the plant.
- Conduct system integration, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal functionality and reliability.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Collaborate with process engineers, plant managers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of control systems with refinery operations.
- Perform site inspections and provide technical support during construction and maintenance phases.
- Evaluate and select appropriate control equipment and materials suitable for refinery conditions.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and standards, as well as industry-specific regulations.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement innovative control solutions within the refinery.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices relevant to industrial control systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in design of process control systems, with a focus on industrial environments.
- Hands on experience with Control System software including but not limited to, Allen-Bradley, DeltaV, Honeywell, or Siemens PCS7. Experience working with batch and sequencing.
- Experience working with LOPA and Safety PLCs.
- Strong knowledge of building codes (ISA, NEC) and regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
