Job Duties:
- The Intake Case Manager is responsible for taking a high volume of calls regarding alleged abuse and/or neglect of children & vulnerable adults, conducting a phone interview with each caller and assessing the risk of harm to the child/adult involved in the situation accurately and efficiently. Responsible for entering all gathered information into a database while conducting the interview over the phone in order to create an intake. The Case Manager is also responsible for using all available information to complete the intake and make a screening decision. Assigned work hours are Tuesday to Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Utilize interviewing skills to take referrals of child and adult abuse and neglect and provide excellent customer service to all reporters in accordance with DSS policy, Agency Mission and GPS Practice Model.
- Document all information in CAPSS thoroughly and accurately.
- Utilize all available systems, conduct research, and analyze information.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to make recommendations for further services based on DSS policy and South Carolina statute.
- Ensure phone coverage during working hours and manage phone system configuration.
- Assist counties with support as requested.
- Work holidays and on call as needed.
- Maintain child welfare certification. Complete 20 hours of training yearly to include certifications that are required yearly. Is encouraged to attend and participate to assist with skills and development growth.
- Maintain an active routine of self-care and pursues support when necessary to minimize the threat of secondary trauma to physical and mental health. Understand the impact of trauma on families and secondary trauma on child welfare staff and applies principles to support families and staff.
- All other duties as assigned.
Examples of duties
A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science.A Bachelor's Degree in any other field and one (1) year experience in a related field.
Selected positions may prefer a Master's Degree. Child welfare experience highly desired.
