Cell Pharmacology Co-op, Non-Clinical Development
Beam TherapeuticsAbout the role
Beam is looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced co-op for an exciting opportunity within the Cell Pharmacology group in the Non-Clinical Development – Cell Biology team from July through December 2025. This individual will support cell-based assay development efforts, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), protein quantitation (e.g., western blotting, MSD/ELISA-based cytokine measurements), and gene expression assays (e.g., qRT-PCR). On the other hand, Beam offers an excellent development opportunity for the co-op, providing an exposure into the pharmacological and nonclinical workstreams required for a project/program in a biotechnology setting.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and culture mammalian cell lines and primary cell types.
- Plan, execute, and analyze cell-based assays using multiple cell types, including downstream analyses using NGS, gene expression analysis, and protein quantitation methods (e.g., western blotting, MSD, ELISA).
- Analyze data using GraphPad Prism and Excel.
- Maintain detailed documentation of experiments in the electronic laboratory notebook system (Benchling).
- Communicate experimental results effectively in team and department meetings.
- Collaborate with team members on assay workstreams.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a BS or MS (preferred) in biological sciences or a related field (Cell Biology / Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or Biochemistry) with prior laboratory experience in a relevant setting.
- Prior experience with cellular and molecular biology techniques, such as mammalian cell culture (including primary cells), western blotting, MSD/ELISA, and qRT-PCR assays, is highly preferred.
- Proficient in GraphPad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis.
- Prior experience maintaining a detailed lab notebook and following written protocols.
- Motivated to learn, be proactive, and meticulous with excellent organizational and communication skills.
