The Opportunity:
In this role, you will report to the supervisor of site services and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.
Hourly Rate: $25 - 28
Shift: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3:30 pm
Location: Fully onsite - San Diego, CA

What we’re looking for
- Education: High School diploma or GED is required; a 2-year technical degree or related experience is preferred.
- Experience: 2+ years equivalent experience in material handling/inventory replenishment or customer service
- Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Office Suite experience
- Spill containment training, IATA, DOT, IMDG, and OSHA Right to Know a plus
- Cross-referencing and inside sales experience a plus
- Knowledge of scientific products and services is a plus
- Conform to all customer requirements for background checks, health and safety issues, security
- Solid understanding and experience in either shipping, inventory, or purchasing
- Excellent Customer Service Skills; displays a professional can-do attitude
- High regard for safety, quality, and adherence to protocols, policies, and procedures
- Ability to self-manage and self-motivate; forward thinking; prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.
In this role you will
- Manage inventory operations including inventory turnover, conducting cycle counts, and supporting annual physical inventories.
- Perform purchasing-related tasks such as managing backorders, expediting shipments, coordinating direct factory and third-party orders, and resolving invoice or pricing discrepancies.
- Process inventory requests and coordinate material movement, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate non-GMP media and buffer preparation ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Manage laboratory instruments (pipettes, balances, pH meters, glassware washers, etc.) maintenance and calibration checks.
- Manage glass-wash operations and inventory controls.
- Provide daily customer service support, maintaining clear communication with clients regarding inventory status and needs.
- Handle order entry, maintain performance metrics, and track cost-saving initiatives.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment and perform equipment inspections.
- Safely manage hazardous materials and ensure compliance with shipping and packaging regulations.
- Serve as a liaison with customer contacts, including purchasing directors, facility managers, and laboratory leadership.
- Utilize multiple systems (e.g., SAP, Citrix, Avantor Inventory Management Systems, ChemSW, and customer-specific platforms) to fulfill job duties.
