Senior Back-end Engineer (PHP)

Our innovative ESG software tools empower investors and fund managers with the insights needed to enhance asset performance and reduce environmental impact.</p><p></p><p><strong>Role Overview:</strong> We are seeking for a resourceful Senior Software Engineer focused on our PHP stack that will implement new products and features end-to-end together with our designers, product managers and other engineers. As a Senior Back-end Engineer you are not only responsible for delivering high-quality code but also for fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation within your team. Your work impacts both the technical quality of the product and the overall user experience.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li><p>Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Stakeholders and other Engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions that delight our customers. </p></li><li><p>Design and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance back-end systems that can scale another 10x in the next year.</p></li><li><p>Work together with the team in setting up engineering best practices like code reviews, monitoring, unit testing, consistent code structure and modularization for reusability.</p></li><li><p>Develop and manage RESTful APIs for communication with front-end and third-party systems</p></li><li><p>Identify and address bottlenecks in application performance, including load balancing and server-side caching.</p></li><li><p>Create and manage database schemas, write optimized SQL queries, and implement database caching strategies.</p></li><li><p>Diagnose and resolve software defects in a timely manner.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul><li><p>Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Engineering or otherwise proven experience as a Software Engineer or equivalent</p></li><li><p>Experience coding using general purpose language like PHP, Python, Javascript or others</p></li><li><p>Experience in SQL and SQL databases such as PostgresDB, MySQL and others.</p></li><li><p>Experience using some of the following frameworks &amp; libraries: Laravel, Filament, Laravel Horizon, PHPUnit, FakerPHP</p></li><li><p>Experience in developing containerised applications in a cloud environment</p></li><li><p>Experience in working with and instrumenting metrics, logging, monitoring and tracing systems</p></li><li><p>Ability to communicate &amp; collaborate effortlessly and proactively with technical and non-technical colleagues.</p></li><li><p>Solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms and an ability to use them practically when implementing solutions</p><p></p></li></ul><p><strong>Our Tech Stack</strong></p><ul><li><p>Front-end: Vue.js, Pinia, Vite, Tailwind CSS and ECharts</p></li><li><p>Back-end: </p><ul><li><p>PHP, Laravel</p></li><li><p>Python, Fast API</p></li></ul></li><li><p>Infrastructure: AWS, Kafka, Redis, Postgres, Nginx, Envoyer, Docker</p></li><li><p>Other tools: Sentry, Linear, Github, Notion</p></li></ul><p></p><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><ul><li><p>Top of market salary and a generous equity stake in the company</p></li><li><p>25 paid vacation days per year, but opportunity for more if needed</p></li><li><p>We offer a hybrid work policy: 2 days working from home and 3 days in-office each week</p></li><li><p>Four months parental leave</p></li><li><p>Annual personal development budget</p></li><li><p>We are a global company that meets in person at least once a year</p></li></ul><h1><strong>Why Scaler?</strong></h1><p>When you join Scaler, you will collaborate with a team of curious, sharp, supportive, and genuinely enthusiastic individuals about Scaler's product and unique value.
