Job Description

The Director, FP&A is responsible for leading the team in providing financial planning, analysis, and support for the operations organizations including Manufacturing/Lab Operations, Regulatory & Quality, and Facilities. This role will collaborate cross functionally throughout the organization, working with the leadership team to provide forward-looking insights using critical analytical thinking, to assist decision making for resource allocation and investment return, etc. The role will report to the VP, FP&A.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Operations, Regulatory, and G&A leadership teams and manage one FP&A and one accounting personnel
  • Develop annual operating plans, quarterly and monthly financial forecasts, ongoing analysis of actual, and collaborate with accounting and businesses during monthly/quarterly close processes
  • Perform budget, forecast and actual analysis for department spend
  • Partner with Supply Chain on inventory forecast and control material purchase
  • Analyze and forecast Cost of Good Sold and Gross Profit for products
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unplanned variances. Work with team members to enhance financial and operational performance trends (historical and forecasted) using appropriate metrics
  • Work closely with accounting and other FP&A teams on planning process for IT/facilities allocations and other cross charges, and conduct actual v. forecast analyses
  • Be the thought leader and drive financial systems design for material flow and cost of good sold  
  • Collaborate with IT and various FP&A teams on projects
  • Help execute on ad hoc requests as assigned by VP and/or CFO

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.  MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of FP&A related experience or MBA with FP&A experience of 8+ years.
  • Prior experience in lab operations or manufacturing finance
  • Previous experience with a business partnering role.
  • Prior experience as people manager.
  • Demonstration of career progression with increased responsibility.
  • Ability to think creatively and quickly with minimal direction and information.
  • Strong relationship building, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making and financial modeling abilities.
  • Data oriented and consultative problem-solving mindset.
  • Excel Power User proficiency required.
  • Experience with ERP and financial planning systems such as SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, etc.

Additional Information

Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time.
