Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) is one of the largest global asset management organizations of any full-service securities firm, with 45 offices serving clients in 19 countries. The MSIM Platforms Team takes a client centric approach to product design and innovation with a focus on an integrated client, investment team, and operational experience. Our approach exists at the intersection of business, technology, and operations and focuses on the needs of people, the possibilities of technology (internal and external), and the requirements for business success. The Platforms Team actively collaborates with senior management, investment teams, technology, operations, legal, compliance, and risk to deliver solutions that improve the client experience, increase productivity, drive cost efficiency, and reduce risk.

The Platform Lead will spearhead strategic initiatives as well as process reengineering efforts with a focus on cohesive end-to-end implementation: identifying opportunities for improvement, building a business case, gathering consensus, building requirements, partnering with technology, testing, implementation, and refinement. Focus areas will include: Artificial Intelligence, Data, and Risk with an emphasis on implementing AI driven initiatives. Examples of key initiatives include improving front-to-back billing processes to increase efficiency and reduce risk, streamlining tools, partnering with investment teams to translate ideas into integrated platform solutions, partnering with MSWM to identify areas where existing in-house solutions can be deployed more broadly in MSIM. This role will require a strong leader and critical thinker with the ability to communicate effectively. In addition, the role will require tactical and strategic thought leadership focused on continual process and efficiency improvements.  

Skills/Abilities

  • 10+ years’ experience in financial services related field
  • Proficiency with Artificial Intelligence tools / platforms
  • A collaborative change driver with a sense of urgency and comfortable challenging the status quo
  • Inquisitive, creative thinker who is motivated to learn and driven to achieve exceptional results
  • Demonstrated track record of effective partnership with and translation between business, technology, and operations
  • Appreciation of trade-offs when choosing between vendor solutions versus building in-house
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure, strong ability to influence cross functionally
  • Attention to detail, high level of initiative, resourcefulness, and ability to demonstrate good business judgment
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, fast learning, adaptable team player
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and interest in improving business, technical, and operational processes
  • Ability to make connections across multiple data sources
  • Bachelor’s degree
