Job Summary:

The Software Product Engineer implements applications following 12-factor principles to build out the product and iterative enhancements in an Agile environment. In this role, you will own the development of software products, developing and implementing primarily backend services but may also work on some frontend components. As a Software Product Engineer you will work to provide continuous integration to ensure agility and quality of products. You will actively participate in the decision-making process of the team ensuring that the simplest appropriate technology and design is chosen to meet user needs.

 In this role, you will be working to build/enhance embedded solutions for the sale of Allstate products within partner companies. While working with the team, you will work in a paired programming setting at times.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create software solutions to execute the product strategy, keeping the customer needs and wants in mind

• Participate in iteration planning meetings, ensuring that the team has a common understanding of each story and chore in the team’s backlog

• Participate in daily product team standups

• Participate in retrospectives to gather feedback and derive actionable items to improve the team and the product

• Conduct demonstrations of working software

• Provide input into the architecture and design of the product, collaborating with the team to solve problems the right way

• Follow Agile methodology when writing software and building products

• Establish continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment pipelines and practices

• Provide support for software products in user environments

• Coach more junior team members on relevant technologies

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job does not have supervisory duties.

Education and Experience:

• 4 year Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)

• 2 or more years of experience (Preferred)

• In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• No Certification, License or Registration is required for the job.

Functional Skills:

• Strong understanding of computer science concepts, object-oriented design principles
• Hands-on experience with Java or JavaScript technologies
• Preferred Spring Framework experience
• Practical cloud knowledge with technologies such as PCF, AWS or other cloud technologies
• Preferred front end technologies like JavaScript, React, and/or Angular
• Strong on REST API’s
• Experience with relational database or NOSQL database
• Creating products within Test Driven Development; including knowledge and experience in testing frameworks such as Junit
• Utilize continuous integration and DevOps methodologies, preferred tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, SonarQube, Gradle, Maven, etc.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum work environment

Compensation offered for this role is $63,500.00-$108,500.00 per year and is based on experience and qualifications.
