Job Summary
Reporting to the Digital Collections & Strategies Librarian (DCSL), the Digital Collections & Repository Associate (DCRA) provides essential hands-on processing and operational support for the Library Systems & Digital Infrastructure unit. The DCRA's primary focus is the creation, ingest, and maintenance of content for the library’s institutional repository and digital archives systems, working under the policy and direction of the DCSL. The Associate also provides administrative and data support for the unit's technical and project management functions.
Department Summary
The Library Systems and Digital Infrastructure (LSDI) unit is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and management of the library’s enterprise systems and digital collections. Our mission is to provide a robust technical foundation through seamless access, high-integrity preservation, and the expert administration of library service platforms across our campus environments. The unit focuses on the critical intersection of back-end content management and technical stability, leveraging specialized expertise to manage both daily system operations and the lifecycle of complex, cross-functional technical integrations. Operating with a focus on technical integrity and change management, the LSDI unit works in close partnership with Academic Services to bridge essential infrastructure with user-centered design, fostering a reliable and innovative digital environment for all students, faculty, and researchers.
Key Qualifications
- Working knowledge of metadata standards including Dublin Core.
- Knowledge of digital file formats (e.g. TIFF, JPEG, PDF/A) and best practices for quality control and file naming.
- Ability to use content management or repository systems (e.g. DSpace, ArchiveSpace, Islandora) and tools for digital file upload and maintenance.
- Ability to perform basic digital image editing and processing, file format conversion, cropping, and improving image contrast.
- Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple assignments with fluctuating deadlines.
Education and Experience
- High School or Equivalent certification plus three years of related library and/or clerical experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Salary and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Range: $51,360 - $63,852 per year
Classification Range: $51,360 - $74,820 per year
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
