SEL's Communications, Networking, and Precise Time Group is searching for an Electrical Hardware Engineer to join our growing team. We design, build, and test communication devices for industrial and utility markets, with an emphasis on extended temperature ranges and harsh environmental conditions. This includes Ethernet switches, secure gateways, satellite clocks, software-defined networking, transceivers, fiber optics, and more!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Analyzes, designs, and develops conventional analog and digital circuits. Conducts moderate to complex design reviews to demonstrate product and circuit robustness.
Develops hardware specifications and prepares system level specifications.
Writes and analyzes test plans, executes tests and evaluates test results for use at peer design reviews and project notebooks.
Mentors and directs the efforts of associate engineers and technicians.
Required Qualifications
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
Preferred Qualifications
Our team designs many types of electronic devices; as such, any experience in the following fields is preferred, but not strictly required:
Analog circuit design
Digital design with microprocessors
Power supply design
Digital design with emphasis on Programmable Logic including:
VHDL/Verilog
Xilinx/Altera/Microsemi Tools and FPGAs
Simulation, Timing, Analysis, and Synthesis
EMC and Safety Compliance Testing and Regulatory Standards
Manufacturing production and DFM
Working knowledge of project management processes and procedures
Electric utility telecommunications
Ethernet and Ethernet protocols, LAN/WAN concepts
Leadership experience or training

Pay Range Data: We anticipate filling this position as an Associate Hardware Engineer $60,000(min) - $90,000(max). We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a higher level. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
