Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 3- Northern Nevada International Center (NNIC). **This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. ** The Language Bank Coordinator will effectively meet the growing and emerging needs of the field of translation and interpretation in our community and our State. With the onset of new technologies in this field, the coordinator must be an individual who not only understands the field of language access but also has a skillset that reflects the current realities of the professional field of translation and interpretation.
This position will manage the day-to-day operations of the language bank and supports NNIC’s refugee resettlement team with their expertise in language access, technology, and community outreach. The Language Bank Coordinator is seen as a leader in language access across state agencies and seeks partnerships that aim to elevate the profession of interpreters and translators in Nevada.
Essential Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR
One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
A valid Class “C” Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates who speak two or more languages are encouraged to apply.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 27
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
