Description

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the EVS Supervisor and the general supervision of the Chief Operating Officer; this position accomplishes Environmental Services Office’s strategic objectives by participating in planning, organizing, and overseeing the assigned functions required to operate and maintain departmental activities and services. Safeguards and maintains all confidential and privileged information.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • With prior approval of the supervisor, arrange work schedules to accommodate organizational needs.
  • Inform the supervisor of all activities and any needs prior to the shift’s end.
  • Make recommendations on improving overall departmental image, compliance or performance.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; training environmentalservices personnel in the proper techniques of environmental services; assign and reviewwork and participate in routine maintenance activities as required. 
  • Provide coaching, corrective action, and recommendations for appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with personnel policies and procedures, and in collaboration with the EVS Supervisor as necessary. 
  • Review logs, charts, and documents to ensure departmental compliance.
  • Attend Discharge Planning, Quality Council, and other meetings as necessary and/or directed.
  • Conduct competency evaluations on a semi-annual basis to ensure compliance.  
  • Conduct daily and periodic rounding for quality assessment; inspect and record findings in authorized streamlines.  
  • Manage and organize special event projects; make recommendations and suggestions on scheduling, supply inventory, and locations.  
  • Collect documentation and assist in presenting topics for monthly departmental meetings.  
  • Perform sanitation duties in patient care areas and general cleaning in an office setting.
  • Participate in performance evaluation of EVS Department staff.
  • Develop and promote positive customer service skills with patients and their families, coworkers and SMH business partners.
  • Establish and maintain a cost-effective inventory system, orders replacement items as necessary.
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance. 
  • Review and submit work orders received from EVS Staff.
  • Steam clean carpet extractors, and rotary floor machines. 
  • Drive vehicle required to perform assigned tasks and maintain vehicle utilized for travel.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors and windows after operating hours and checking electrical appliances to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Observe precautions required for protecting self and staff, and reports damage, theft and found items following established policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • One (1) year of progressive work experience in Environmental Service, Housekeeping, or similar position requiring similar techniques.
  • Six (6) months of supervisory leadership role, or similar position requiring techniques.
  • Must possess a current American Heart Association CPR certification.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s li
