About the role
Summary
Under the general supervision of the District’s CIO and the direct supervision of a Director of School Technology Support, the incumbent in this position manages and supervises the School Technology Specialists to implement IT plans, service and support to all schools and District offices to include management of local networking, Internet Connectivity, computer repair/replacements, software, hardware, Installation/maintenance, training, and/or contractors.Essential Duties
Managerial Responsibilities:
- Supervises School Technology Specialists
- Assesses the support staff and service processes and recommends improvement actions where needed
- Assures the continuity of service when technology staff are unavailable due to illness, vacation or unscheduled events
- Communicates effectively the status of IT problems using a variety of media to Service Desk, Schools, Administrators, and/or vendors
- Maintains service desk work order system with periodic reporting to local schools, Senior Management and Administrative offices
- Performs addition/removal of staff/student network and/or system access permissions
- Maintains and/or performs KPI, service metrics or feasibility studies for District-wide technology or enhancements to existing systems
Client Relations:
- Assesses local schools/customer satisfaction; Customer defined as any local school and/or District support offices
- Maintains customer communications and database processes to alert appropriate staff of pending corrections and/or changes to IT infrastructure and Internet services
- Notifies all customers and Senior Leadership team of the status of IT technology projects on a regular basis
Network Administration:
- Assists with general maintenance to ensure the network runs smoothly
- Assists with coordination of network-related repair requests with Service desk personnel
- Documents process changes and local networking configurations
- Maintains technical documentation required to support the local School Technology Specialists
- Performs maintenance and support of assigned appliances, servers and resources
- Provides assistance to clients/customers in troubleshooting all IT technology in classrooms, media centers, general facilities and Administrative support offices
- Ensures local technology support keeps schools MDF and IDF areas easily accessible, cabling and wiring data management, color coordinated, in a neat organized fashion
Software Administration:
- Maintains an inventory of all available software for the school
- Ensures school level conformance to the District’s software licensing procedures
- Provides guidance on forecasting schools technology needs and assist with identifying software selections
- Keeps current on new technology research and developments in the field of current WAN/LAN technology
- Ensures proper escalation/notification to appropriate internal and/or external IT resources for problem resolution
- Performs other technical duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or In lieu of Degree will consider High School Diploma with equivalent experience defined as 2 yrs of similar work level experience =1 yr of college (4 yrs). Combination of experience and education may be used to meet the Degree requirementCertification/Licensure

Minimum 6 years of experience working with WAN/local-area networks, Linux, PC based applications, Microsoft Windows, Android, IOS, Apple, Cloud based Apps requiredKnowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects and responsibilities
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various technical issues
- Must be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, the general public, third party vendors and work with diverse groups of people
- Ability to develop implement, monitor, and evaluate program goals and initiatives
- Ability to supervise and work effectively with departmental personnel
- Good decision-making and problem solving skills
