The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Business Accountant based out of our National Center office that is located in Dallas, TX. This role will work on-site one-two (1-2) days per week.

 

The Sr. Business Accountant will manage the Finance and Accounting functions of the international business units and product lines (Printed Material, eBooks, eLearning, Quality Improvement Programs, and other international programs) to ensure all transactions are recorded, classified, and reported properly in accordance with the General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  The Sr. Business Accountant will also work with revenue recognition, expenses recording, foreign payroll, foreign bank accounts and international tax & regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all material sales functions for international operations, including inventory management, sales order processing, invoice generation, material transfer, and inventory/cost adjustment.
  • Prepare monthly international inventory and GL account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy through three-way reconciliation.
  • Manage revenue and cost accounting for various international programs, including eLearning, eBooks, and QI.
  • Compile international material sales information and prepare reclassification entries as needed.
  • Manage accounts receivable for international distributors and customers, including reviewing aging reports and coordinating collections.
  • Perform assigned tasks, including accruals, for month-end closing processes.
  • Review and reconcile GL and AR accounts, ensuring proper expense coding for international operations.
  • Manage accounting for various functions in international operations, such as product development and technology expenditures.
  • Establish and implement management and accounting controls for sales and expenses.
  • Collaborate on the annual budget process, develop operating and capitalized budgets, provide financial analyses, monitor budget progress, and prepare variance analyses and management reports.
  • Manage finance and accounting functions for foreign entities and offices, including revenue and expense recognition, financial transactions, consolidation, tax reporting, payroll, and billing/invoicing.
  • Collaborate with external and internal accountants for HQ entities on accounting, finance, reporting, and consolidation.
  • Collaborate with international management to establish finance and accounting processes for new ventures, products, projects, offices, or entities, including conducting finance-related due diligence.
  • Effectively manage conflict resolution, including the ability to address conflicts constructively, build consensus, and maintain positive relationships among team members
  • Inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of experience in Accounting or Finance
  • Five (5) years of advance experience with Excel
  • Four (4) years of experience in mid or large size company/organization             
  • Five (5) years of experience with hands on experience in mid to large scale accounting system               
  • Three (3) years of experience with budgeting and financial analysis
  • Three (3) years of experience with revenue generation accounting process 
  • Ability of mentoring and developing team members, empowering them to reach their full potential and contribute effectively to organizational goals
  • Great communication skill, written and verbal
  • Read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • No travel required
