Overview
Responsible for underwriting and closing support for the Small Business Administration function, including the efficient and timely decision making in terms of credit risk and all required documents for Small Business Administration. Develops and analyzes all types of credit information on Small Business Administration loans. Works on credits for all industries and is expected to maintain competency by staying well informed and up to date on industry trends and Small Business Administration regulations and standard operating procedures. Ensures compliance with all Bank and Small Business Administration Regulations and operating procedures. Approves SBA loans within assigned authority and recommends approval for loans exceeding individual authority. Serve as a mentor for less experienced Small Business Administration Underwriters / Credit Analysts.
Responsibilities
- Determines Small Business Administration eligibility on Small Business Administration loan requests. Prepares all financial documentation, analyzes and structures loans, assigns risk rating and prepares approval documents on all types of Small Business Administration loans, including the most complex.
- Coordinates and prepares all documentation required regarding the Small Business Administration application and correspondence with the Small Business Administration office. May require direct interaction with loan applicants.
- Responsible for assisting in the efficient and effective operation of the Small Business Administration Department including, but not limited to, involvement in special projects and initiatives focused on improving and streamlining the underwriting process.
- Assists the Small Business Administration Relationship Managers in the underwriting, processing and closing of Small Business Administration loans.
- Provides general assistance and support to the SBA Underwriting & Operations Manager with training, developing, advising and guiding other colleagues within the Underwriting function all with a focus that promotes superior customer service, employee engagement and compliance.
- Provides exemplary customer service for both internal and external customers by meeting and exceeding service level agreements.
- Maintains current knowledge of all related Small Business Administration regulation, Bank Policies and Regulatory requirements. Maintains or builds relationships with Small Business Administration office, attorneys and consultants to continue growth and development in knowledge and understanding of issues within Small Business Administration and industry.
Additional Responsibilities
- May be assigned supervisor responsibilities for less experienced Underwriters / Credit Analysts.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent experience. Specialty: accounting, business administration, or finance. (Required)
Experience
10 or more years working knowledge of commercial bank products and commercial credit analysis. (Required)
10 or more years working knowledge of MS Office. (Required)
10 or more years Small Business Administration loans with loan structuring. (Preferred)
