The CSU Chancellor's Office, located on the waterfront adjacent to the Aquarium of the Pacific in downtown Long Beach, is the headquarters for the nation's largest and most diverse system of higher education. Salary
The anticipated salary hiring range is up to $170,892 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Position Information
The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a Senior Director, Integrated Internal Communications to serve as the chief storyteller for the California State University Chancellor’s Office and leads a team of writers responsible for strategic communications driven through messaging internal audiences including the Board of Trustees, employees, students, and key insiders such as the CSU Foundation Board and Alumni Council. The team will develop feature stories, pride points, and accurate and timely information about important university matters which are integrated into messaging to broader audiences.
This position is approved for telecommuting (two days telecommuting, three days in office (in-person)) with onsite work at the main headquarters located in Long Beach, California.
Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor, Strategic Communications and Brand Marketing, the Senior Director, Integrated Internal Communications will:
-Provide strategic communications counsel to Division leadership developing an editorial calendar that furthers goals and objectives.
-Promote the CSU and Chancellor’s Office as an employer of choice that cares for its people and conducts purpose-driven work.
-Advance storytelling through a variety of mediums including newsletters, web content, blogs, podcasts.
-Develop case statements, position papers and narrative responses to emerging issues that can be leveraged both internally and externally.
-Help shape the Board of Trustees and Chancellor’s priorities through narrative storytelling.
-Disseminate information from human resources, legal and regulatory groups for operational compliance and effectiveness.
-Identify and monitor key performance indicators.
-Create and implement strategic communications plans with colleagues in University Relations & Advancement, and throughout the Chancellor’s Office.
-Integrate messaging with strategic communications, marketing and brand management.
-Lead, oversee and implement internal communications strategy leveraging WorkVivo systemwide intranet.
Qualifications
This position requires:
-A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a closely related discipline is required.
-A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in public affairs, journalism, communications, or marketing positions.
-Exceptional writing, editing, and communications skills.
-Demonstrated experience with narrative, explanatory, and persuasive writing.
Preferred Qualifications
-A master’s degree in a related area is preferred
-Experience in higher education is preferred.
-Familiarity with higher education/academia, and with California state public policy.
-Experience with targeted communication through digital communication platforms.
