The Marketing Intern works within the Marketing team in support of driving ticket sales for Carnegie Hall and Weill Music Institute (WMI)’s concerts and programs. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Marketing, the Marketing Intern will support all tactical areas of marketing, including but not limited to research of niche markets for concerts and recruitment, concert and program listings, and group sales and tourism outreach.
The Marketing Intern must have the ability to work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively as part of the broader Marketing team. They must be able to handle a wide variety of deadline-oriented projects and activities as needed. Attention to detail, timeliness, collegiality, and enthusiasm for a team-oriented environment are essential.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Research target markets to drive ticket sales and audience growth for Carnegie Hall programs, including genre or event-specific markets, tourism operators and leaders, and recruitment of quality candidates for WMI initiatives;.
• Assist with data integrity and list management; conduct outbound phone calls to confirm organizational contacts.
• Identify media outlets or organizations that may penetrate specific target market segments.
• Update concert, event, or audition listings on all applicable websites; identify new opportunities and platforms to promote concerts, events, and programs.
• Assist with experiential marketing activities including pre- and post-concert receptions and represent Carnegie Hall at community events.
• Other tasks, duties, or projects as assigned. The intern will also have the opportunity to propose and present a culminating project, determined by an individual’s area of interest and expertise and the marketing team’s needs.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills including written and verbal communications.
• Impeccable attention to detail and excellent organizational skills with the capacity for learning new skills
• Excellent time management along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Understanding of various local community cultural interests; knowledge of classical, jazz, and orchestral artists and organizations a plus – but not a requirement.
• Positive outlook, solution-oriented, and enthusiastic about marketing and the performing arts highly preferred. Computer skills –Microsoft Office, Outlook, Tessitura, etc.
