Job Description

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (LMMFC) Chelmsford, MA is seeking a motivated and driven Quality Engineer to support our manufacturing operations.

As a recognized designer, developer and manufacturer of precision engagement aerospace and defense systems for the U.S. and allied militaries, LMMFC offers the vital capabilities needed to provide our war fighting and civilian customers the products and services they need in their defining moments.

Quality Engineers at LMMFC act as an integrated member of the design and production teams developing and reviewing quality standards, methods, work Instructions and procedures for the inspection of manufactured and procured products. To ensure our customer receives the highest level of Quality, our Quality Engineers develop, review/approve documentation related to internal and external manufacturing processes to ensure requirements are fulfilled.

Job Description duties include:

•Reviews documentation related to internal and external manufacturing processes to ensure quality products are delivered to the customer.
•Ability to analyze and resolve process issues varying from basic to very complex.
•Attends and leads program corrective action meeting, identifies trends, assists in problem resolution and ensures responsible parties meet commitments.
•Participates as an active member of Material Review Boards and Failure Review Boards which includes the disposition of non-conforming hardware, identifying hardware containment requirements, identifying appropriate root cause and corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence.
•Performs assessments and audits on processes and procedures to ensure compliance to specifications, engineering drawings, procedures and ISO 9001 & AS9100 standards.
•Interfaces with customers, suppliers and program personnel on quality related issues.
•Utilizes lean initiatives to reduce waste and maintain continuous improvement.
•Makes the final decision on acceptability of product.

The Locale: Chelmsford is a charming suburb of Boston located about 25 miles northwest of that city. Chelmsford is very close to historic Lowell Massachusetts and to Nashua, New Hampshire. Chelmsford is within reach of New Hampshire’s White Mountains and awesome ski areas to the north, and the scenic coastal towns of MA and NH are about an hour east. This scenic colonial region offers lots of New England charm, great schools, shopping, and restaurants. Where can you get to from Chelmsford? Chelmsford is about 90 minutes from Cape Cod. Boston is about 30 minutes to the east without traffic. New York City is about 4.5 hours away from Chelmsford. Waterville Valley and other major ski resorts of New Hampshire and Vermont are about 2 to 3 hours to the north. It should be noted that Chelmsford, Massachusetts is approximately 35 miles northwest of the Boston metropolitan area and offers better access to a wide range of substantially more affordable regions in the area to live. Those regions include Northeastern and North Central Massachusetts, and Southern, New Hampshire.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Engineering from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.

• This position requires the ability to obtain a secret clearance and also obtain an interim secret clearance prior to start. Therefore all candidates need to be US Citizens.

Desired skills

• Ability to work independently and as a team player.
• At least 1 years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Discrete and/or Micro-electronics experience.
• Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action development.
• Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma application.
