This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Throughout the manufacturing process, you will also identify, develop, and deploy methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build sequence and schedules. We are looking for a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineering manager, with a strong background in new model introduction, to supervise a manufacturing engineering team at our manufacturing facility in Kent, WA. The Manufacturing Engineering team at this location is focused on development, manufacturing, test, and delivery of various systems that will be used on Lunar Lander flight vehicles. This role will directly impact sustained human presence in space and on the Moon, and passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • You will share in the team’s impact with the day-to-day responsibilities including Manufacturing Plan development, Work Order authoring, developing innovative processes and procedures for various spaceflight systems, and provide mentoring and career path development for your direct reports.
  • Directly lead a team of manufacturing engineers with translating engineering design, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware ready for test, qualification, and flight.
  • Evaluate staffing requirements and hire strong candidates to build a team consistent with our leadership principles.
  • Coordinate daily execution of scheduled and unscheduled manufacturing engineering tasks to ensure operational performance expectations (daily completion goals, production rates, etc.) are met.
  • Ensure compliance with Blue Origin’s documented Policies and procedures, as well as industry specifications.
  • Assist with authoring various manufacturing engineering documentation (work orders, policies, procedures, manuals, etc.).
  • Interface and connect with various stakeholders across other departments and business units to ensure mission objective success.
  • Champion and promote a culture of safety and quality first.
  • Actively participate in your team’s annual and mid-year reviews, as well as salary planning efforts.
  • Work with multi-functional teams that are responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers to produce world class aerospace hardware.
  • Apply robust, consistent, and reliable engineering fundamentals and processes to ensure the highest quality of manufacturing engineering.
  • Review and understand companywide processes and command media to ensure proper compliance.
  • Drive research and development hardware into a repeatable production product.
  • Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods (or refine existing processes) to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule.
  • Closely manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire fabrication process
  • Perform engineering drawing review and drive manufacturability into designs.
  • Develop process control measures and evaluation through statistical analysis.
  • Define and support repair and rework activities.
  • Design, procure, install, and integrate custom manufacturing equip
