The Department of Social Work at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Spring 2025 to teach MSW 660 Acceptance and Mindfulness-Based Interventions. The course is a 3-unit class, has one 3-hour class each week of the 15-week semester, and is taught in a hybrid format (select weeks will be online and the others are in-person at the San Marcos campus). The course is scheduled for Wednesdays, from 8:30-11:20 a.m.
Course Description
Explores acceptance and mindfulness-based therapeutic approaches with diverse individuals and groups. Addresses engagement, assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation approaches from a mindful and values-focused perspective.
Minimum qualifications:
- A Master of Social Work degree
- Five years of post-MSW experience
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) California licensure
- Three years of post-MSW experience providing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in social work/clinical settings
- One year of post-MSW experience providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) or DBT-based psychoeducation
- Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working within the State of California is a condition of employment.
Preferred qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in Social Work or in a closely related field
- Experience supervising student interns/staff
- Experience in teaching university classes and with instructional technology
- Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.
Salary commensurate with degree level and experience
- Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,007 - $6,677 per full-time month
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,007 - $6,677 per full-time month
