The Raytheon Electronic Warfare - Electrical and Electronics Engineering department in Goleta, California has an immediate opening for a highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer – RF/Microwave design to work on Electronic Warfare (EW) and general electronics product development for defense applications.  

The advanced RF hardware section is the focal point for cutting edge hardware. We have an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer who is seeking to advance their strong academic background and experience in digital and/or RF/Microwave systems. Occasional travel may be required to other Raytheon facilities and customer sites.

What You Will Do:

  • Participate in defining component, module, or system architecture.
  • Assist the team in design and hands-on testing of RF, microwave, digital, and power components, circuit boards and systems plus providing technical support to production activities.
  • Be a part of a multidisciplinary engineering team throughout the project lifecycle to meet project goals.
  • Manage small projects, from start to finish mentoring lower level professionals with tasks and assignments.
  • Some travel to integration sites, plus customer and subcontractor facilities, may be required.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree or equivalent in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in one of these fields with a minimum of 3 years experience with RF/microwave circuit.
  • Experience with design, development, and production of electrical equipment and/or hardware.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required (only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance).

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with some design tools (SPICE, schematic/layout design software, MATLAB, ADS, HFSS, Hyperlynx, GeneSys as examples) and the ability and desire to learn new tools.
  • Experience with schematic capture, block diagrams, and parts lists for complex electronics.
  • Hands-on experience testing electronic products using bench power supplies, signal/waveform generators, high-speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers or vector network analyzers.
  • Knowledge of mixed RF, Microwave, and mixed signal electronics.
  • Strong understanding of first principals and a love for Physics

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
