JOB SUMMARY:
The Library Access & Delivery Services Manager, within the University Libraries and Museums at Saint Louis University, provides leadership and direction for the Access and Delivery Services Departments at Pius XII Memorial Library. This position coordinates innovative and user-centric access & delivery services, utilizing current and emerging technologies, to meet the ever-changing needs and expectations of faculty, students, and staff. This position also establishes, implements, and evaluates departmental policies and procedures to effectively meet user needs and expectations, and formulates departmental goals and objectives in support of the mission and strategic goals of the Libraries and Museums, as well as the University. Additionally, Library Access & Delivery Services Manager oversees the functional areas of circulation, course reserves, consortial lending and borrowing, interlibrary loan and document delivery, shelving and stacks maintenance, as well as technology lending and printing service provision. This position also serves as the point of contact for liaising with University departments providing facility repair, custodial and security services.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Management
Provides innovative leadership, management, and strategic direction to the Access and Delivery Services department
Manages the staff and operations related to circulation, course reserves, consortial lending and borrowing, interlibrary loan and document delivery, shelving and stacks maintenance, as well as technology lending and printing service provision
Directly supervises full-time exempt staff members; indirectly supervises part-time student staff members across two service points within Pius XII Memorial Library
Delegates responsibilities effectively, empowering staff to make independent decisions at appropriate operational levels and holding staff accountable for successful completion of assignments
Establishes balanced workloads, providing guidance and direction, monitoring and evaluating performance, and coaching and counseling
Manages performance and productivity of functional areas within the department
Establishes goals and expectations for departmental areas, including staff and student workers
Conducts annual performance reviews of staff
Participates in and provides opportunities for employees for professional development
Planning, Communication, and Collaboration
Promotes and ensures a customer-service focus among library staff
Communicates and collaborates across library departments to facilitate and improve services and workflows
Maintains knowledge of, and engages in, continuous professional development to keep up with trends in relevant areas
Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and documentation about circulation, reserves, interlibrary loan, document delivery, shelving/stacks maintenance, as well as technology lending and printing service provision workflows and processes
Aligns departmental planning, priorities, goals, objectives, and services with strategic initiatives of the Libraries and Museums, the University, and consortial partners
Initiates and develops services and programs to support short-term and long-term departmental and division strategic goals
Leads initiatives that advance and transform Access & Delivery Services activities and create a welcoming user experience
Formulates, revises, and implements policies and procedures in response to evolving operational needs; interprets such policies and procedures for students, faculty, and staff
Creates content for and oversees the design and production of clear and effective signage, maps, brochures, and website information related to Access & Delivery Services
Assessment
Develops departmental metrics for success and analyzes trends to continually evaluate services and their impact
Uses data and assessment techniques to advocate for and support evidence-informed decisions around staffing resources, services, spaces, programs, and user experience
Collects and analyzes transactional and performance statistics to determine trends and develop strategies to improve performance
