Essential Functions

  • Investigates and evaluates the financial resources of residents, their estates, and their legally responsible relatives for the effective functioning of a facility engaged in reimbursement of third-party payments.
  • Prepares Social Security and Medicare applications and forms for applying knowledge of current laws to assure residents are in receipt of all benefits due, resulting in Medicare Part B reimbursement for the facility.
  • Admits residents to the facility.
  • Assists in conducting field investigations to acquire data and assembles information from various sources to establish whether a will exists, financial liability, assets, and legally responsible representative of decedent.
  • Establishes and maintains a good working relationship with various veterans' organization and Veteran Service Officers to ensure correct benefits are ascertained and donations continue.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, with courses in accounting, economics, or business administration, preferably including courses in insurance, estate, and probate law.
  • Requires one (1) year of work experience in the reimbursement field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience working with principles of hospitalization and life insurance.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with legal terminology relevant to the reimbursement of funds.
  • One (1) year of experience of the Federal Health Care Law as it pertains to recipients at State facilities.
  • One (1) year of experience working with various reimbursement forms utilized by the facility.
  • One (1) year of experience of the statutes and departmental policies, rules, and regulations as they relate to the reimbursement of monies to the state for the care and treatment of patients.
  • One (1) year of experience working with mathematical calculations relevant to reimbursement funding.
  • One (1) year of experience analyzing records, accounts, forms, and legal documents to ascertain financial condition, completeness, accuracy, and sufficiency in compliance with State laws and departmental rules and regulations.
