Associate General Counsel

About the Job: 

LaunchDarkly is looking for an Associate General Counsel to join our growing company of over 500 employees, with current operations in the US, UK, Europe and Australia and considerations to expand into Asia, the Middle East and Africa. In this role you will play a pivotal role in developing our legal strategy under the leadership of our General Counsel. You will be at the forefront of our legal function, offering daily guidance on legal matters, including product, privacy, intellectual property, compliance, and risk management strategies.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with building the in-house legal function for a rapidly growing start-up, including establishing policies and procedures, drafting forms, and counseling other teams on legal compliance.

• Draft, review and negotiate complex agreements, including strategic partner agreements and other contracts relating to the operations of our SaaS business globally.

• Assist with legal operations, including improving the team’s processes and implementing tools for increasing the efficiency of the legal function.

• Provide legal advice to the company to establish and maintain a strong culture of integrity and compliance.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of legal experience, with at least 3 years in house, preferably with a SaaS company.

• Demonstrable experience in SaaS, cloud computing, enterprise software, intellectual property licensing, data privacy and cybersecurity.

• Experience negotiating contracts, including with non-US entities. 

• Ability to work effectively with ambiguity and change (we operate as a start-up).

• Experience working with a geographically diverse team across multiple time zones. 

• Detail-oriented, excellent organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

• Understanding of how to partner and collaborate cross functionality to balance risks with business objectives

• Proximity to our HQ Oakland office strongly preferred.

• Ability to travel to Oakland HQ

• Law Degree and license to practice in the US.

• Must be authorized to work in US

Pay:

Target pay range for a Level P5 in San Francisco/Bay Area: $186,000-$219,000*

*Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, and dental insurance, and mental health benefits in addition to salary.
