POSITION SUMMARY

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely data entry, payroll processing and related reporting. The Specialist provides training to employees on payroll and timesheet entry. Additionally, the Specialist updates and audits payroll related records and ensures they are properly maintained. All work is executed in accordance with Integrated Safety Management (ISM) and Integrated Safeguards and Security Management (ISSM) functions and principles.

 

Pay Transparency

$26.00-$28.00 Hourly based on Experience

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Responsible for timesheet entry and payroll process from start to finish.

· Review all timecards and leave requests for proper signatures and initials. Support the department effort to coordinate with employees and supervisors for corrections. Maintain log of timecard discrepancies and track required corrections through completion.

· Ensure pay and time is distributed correctly in accordance with federal and state laws, N2MIS pay policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)

· Verify and maintain availability of benefit accruals and balances on a weekly basis, audit timecard entry against leave requests.

· Reconcile and maintain new hires, terminations and status changes for updates as it relates to payroll.

· Prepare all required payroll reports

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience:

· Work is performed onsite. Position is not remote.

· High school degree or equivalent.

· Minimum of two (2) years of direct payroll responsibilities and related experience.

· Currently have, or have the ability to obtain and maintain, a Department of Energy L level security clearance. Obtaining this clearance requires US citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances.

· Ability to obtain and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license.

· Excellent time management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize and follow-through on multiple tasks, under strict deadlines and changing priorities.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to convey information professionally and tactfully regarding sensitive and confidential issues.

· Intermediate to advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products, including Excel, Word and Outlook as well as payroll/accounting systems.

· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work independently with minimal supervision.
