Description
The University of Washington (UW), Department of Medicine/Division of Cardiology is currently recruiting 4 general cardiologists to be primarily based at the University of Washington Medical Center- Northwest (UWMC-Northwest) at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank, on the Clinical Practice Track. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. Full-/part-time status is negotiable. Positions are available effective November 1, 2024 though the specific start date is negotiable.
In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.

The UW Medical Center-Northwest campus is a UW hospital that offers comprehensive cardiovascular services including a cardiac catheterization lab, electrophysiology lab, nuclear SPECT imaging, cardiac rehabilitation, and echocardiography including TEE, treadmill and dobutamine echo stress testing, and 3D imaging. A 6-story tower was recently opened to increase bed capacity and the outpatient clinic will be expanded in the fall 2024 to accommodate the growth in patient volumes.
University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Successful candidates will be expected to provide patient care including general, noninvasive cardiology and will be encouraged to grow our highly regarded inpatient and outpatient practice. This position allows individuals to take advantage of the outstanding opportunities that exist for collaboration at the University of Washington, as well as involvement in medical education of residents and cardiology fellows in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Outpatient clinic one day a week may also be completed at the UWMC Mountlake Terrace location nearby. Candidates in all areas of Cardiology are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to those with interests in moderate heart failure, echo, and nuclear imaging.
Compensation
Salary
The base salary range will be: $17,500-$41,667 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

The successful candidate must have an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), medical licensure in the state of Washington and Board Eligibility or Certification in Cardiovascular disease (or foreign equivalent) by the start date of employment.
