Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Human Resources Generalist to join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.
The successful candidate will develop and administer the full scope of Human Resources Policies and Programs to support Corporate and Departmental objectives. Duties will include, but are not limited to, planning, organizing, executing and interpreting a variety of basic Human Resources Policies, Federal and State Regulations, and similar documentation to prepare routine procedures, reports, requests, programs, and correspondence.
The initial focus of the role will include compliance, reporting and compensation support. In addition, the successful candidate may participate in other HR functional areas including salary and benefits administration, labor relations, subcontractor and procurement relations, etc. The HR Generalist duties and focus may evolve over time as needs within the organization change or emerge.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Assure and advise on compliance of human resources activities with applicable federal, state, and Company specifications, laws, and requirements including new regulations, equal employment opportunity and affirmative action programs to include necessary research.
- Support of total compensation programs including pay system practices and planning activities, performance-based salary administration system, job evaluation
- Author and advise on company policies and practices.
- Coordinate and write required reporting and other DOE deliverables.
- Administer special HR programs, as assigned.
This position is primarily located at the WIPP site.
Exempt Grade Levels (32-34)
Minimum Requirements: These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and applications are the means of determination.
- Master’s degree with eight (8) years of professional experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) years of professional experience is required.
- Experience must include some time in human-resource related functions.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Higher education attainment than listed acceptable per internal level identifiers of accompanying years of experience.
Preferred Requirements:
- Demonstrated proficiency in business writing (i.e., writing grants, proposals in response to RFPs, business development, federal/state requests, job descriptions, policies, or other applicable documents).
- Preference given to candidate with human resources generalist experience such as salary planning, staffing and recruiting, and human resources database administration.
- Degree or college coursework in human resources, business administration, or related disciplines is preferred.
- Business certifications (SHRM, Microsoft, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) are desired.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Previous WIPP experience a plus.

Minimum salary $94,706 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
